Start with the player, not just the playing résumé

A coach's playing background is useful context, but families also need to understand who they teach and how they work. Compare ages taught, coaching experience, lesson formats and the approach described in each profile.

Tell the coach whether your junior is learning the fundamentals, preparing for USTA competition, playing high school tennis or exploring a future college pathway. Historical playing rankings describe the coach's own career; they do not promise results for a student.

Private lessons and competitive development

Our listed partners describe options including individual instruction, technical development, competitive hitting and tournament preparation. Some also discuss semi-private sessions or small groups. Availability and the right format depend on the coach and the player.

Ask how a first session is structured, what the coach would assess and how they would set priorities for subsequent lessons. For ongoing training, discuss a realistic schedule and how progress will be reviewed.

Confirm the practical details before booking

Profiles list training areas around Delray Beach, Boca Raton and nearby communities. Confirm the actual court location, access arrangements, lesson duration, court fees and cancellation or weather policy directly with the coach before making plans.

Pricing is arranged with each coach. Share your preferred dates, current playing level and goals when asking about availability. For junior players, a parent or guardian should make the introduction.

Questions from parents

How do we choose a coach for our child?

Start with the ages and playing levels taught, the coach's experience with similar juniors and the approach described in their profile. Ask about a first lesson and discuss your child's goals before committing to ongoing sessions.

Can competitive juniors ask about match practice?

Yes. Ask the coach about point play, competitive hitting and tournament preparation. You can also explore our separate Match Play page for local match-play and warm-up matching, subject to a suitable player match and availability.

Does Alex Delray Tennis operate an academy?
